Huelva, Spain (PortSEurope) February 12, 2019 – Huelva port has opened the doors of the new fish market building, which after an investment of €6.9 million ($7.8 million), will give the port “the ability to compete in the global world,” according to the delegate of the central Spanish government in Andalusia, Alfonso Rodríguez Gómez de Celis.
During his speech, the Government delegate pointed out that the opening of the fish market “allows Huelva to have infrastructures recognised in Spain and is an instrument that places the Huelva fishing sector in a competitive position on the international stage”.
For this reason, he guaranteed the “commitment and the decisive support of the Spanish government to promote this type of port infrastructures that help, in this case, the port of Huelva to consolidate itself as a fundamental logistic hub in the southwest of the peninsula and as a pole of attraction for investments”.
The building has an area of 6,473 m², of which the ground floor has 3,800 m², with a surface for unloading and handling, as well as temperature-controlled rooms, toilets, wholesale market, offices, bar and changing rooms.
