Livorno Port’s Links To US East Coast To Be Modified

Livorno, Italy (PortSEurope) November 22, 2018 – Livorno port will no longer be connected to the East Coast of the United States through the current services as of December.

At the end of September, Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Network Express and Yang Ming announced a strategic cooperation with CMA CGM, Cosco and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) to strengthen links with the USA, in order to offer a better and more competitive service.

The companies have decided to integrate the AL6 service with the one called Amerigo operated by Cosco, CMA CGM and OOCL, in a new single line on which six 8,000 TEU container ships will be used.

The rotation of the new service will be: La Spezia, Genoa, Fos, Barcelona, Valencia, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Miami, Algeciras and again La Spezia.

Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Network Express and Yang Ming will offer connections via Livorno thanks to the AL7 service that Zim Integrated Shipping Services performs in collaboration with THE Alliance and which it has modified.
