Minister of Shipping and Island Policy visits the port of Heraklion

Heraklion, Greece (PortSEurope) April 12, 2021 -The Heraklion Port Authority was visited on Friday 9 April 2021, by the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Yannis Plakiotakis, accompanied by the Secretary General of the Aegean and Island Policy, Ms. Christiana Kalogirou. At the heart of the talks were the prospects for the development and exploitation of the port of Heraklion, Crete, as well as the
investments planned for the benefit of the local economy and employment and the national economy as a whole. The regional port is part of the country’s privatistaion programme. As the Minister said that investment interest is high from domestic and international investors which testifies to the great development potential of the port. The Minister gave his assurance to the workers’ representative that there will be full security for all workers at the port. At the same time, the dockers submitted a memorandum to the Minister and stated that agree with the concession of the majority stake in the Port. Copyright (C) PortSEurope.
