Genoa, Italy (PortSEurope) June 14, 2019 – The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), through its subsidiary Marinvest, plans to acquire a 49% stake in the capital of ship owning group Genoa-based Gruppo Messina.
Two years after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the companies, the official agreement closing a transaction whose perimeter will include both ship owning and terminal activities was announced last night.
“The binding agreements between the shipping giant MSC of Geneva and the Gruppo Messina have been definitively formalised today,” MSC said.
The closing of the transaction will take place with the final approval by the Antitrust Authority and Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mar Ligure Occidentale (AdSP – Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority).
