
Newly appointed ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan visited Baku port

Baku, Azerbaijan (PortSEurope) November 23, 2020 – On November 16, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Azerbaijan, Wada Junichi, visited Baku Port. Director General Taleh Ziyadov gave a brief overview of the port’s activities over the past 10 months, especially during the Covid-19 coronavirus crisis. The Director General said that despite serious restrictions on the world logistics map as part of pandemic
control measures, the “Middle Corridor” passing through Azerbaijan and extending from Europe to Central Asia is working at full capacity. During the first nine months of this year, the total volume of cargo handling in the port of Baku increased by 19% compared to the same period last year and more than 3.5 million tons of cargo was transported through the port.
