Ports of the province of Gilan handled a total of 1.32 million tons of goods in the current Iranian year’s first nine months

Tehran, Iran (PortSEurope) January 19, 2022 – The ports of the Caspian Sea province of Gilan handled a total of 1.32 tons of goods in the current Iranian year’s first nine months (March 21-Dec. 21, 2021), up +12% on the same period of last year, according to director general of the northern province’s Ports and Maritime Organization. The organization reported that Anzali Port accounted for
1.14 million tons of the total and Astara Port over 180,000 tons. The main goods handled were grains, essential goods, vegetable oil, metals, agricultural products, minerals, construction materials, glass, tiles and ceramics, chemicals, wood and particle boards, paper, cardboard and containers. The official noted that container loading and unloading at Gilan’s ports stood at 4,746 TEUs over the nine months. Anzali Port is one of the busiest ports among the southern Caspian Sea littoral states, and is part of the International North-South Transit Corridor (INSTC). Copyright (C) PortSEurope.
