Madrid, Spain (PortSEurope) July 18, 2019 – Last Friday, Puertos del Estado (state-owned ports agency) hosted the first milestone event of the SIMPLE platform (SIMPLIFICATION of Processes for a Logistic Enhancement), a project aimed at increasing the reliability and efficiency of multimodal freight services (time, quality and cost) through the integration of logistics activities using new technologies (based on ITS, Intelligent Transport Systems). The project
involves the participation of Renfe Mercancías, Adif and Puertos del Estado. The event consisted of the so-called launching of the challenge to market operators to make them participants in the problem to be solved through the aforementioned project. The presence of interested parties at the event was varied because both the companies specialized in technological innovation and the development of systems for the exchange and management of data attended. Also, research groups and knowledge agents in this area also attended. Llast May, the Ministry of Public Works announced the signing of an agreement between the Ministry, Adif and Puertos del Estado for the design, development and operation of the SIMPLE Technology Platform, which will involve an investment of €5.26 million, will be supported by the Connect Europe Facility (CEF) for its extension in the European Union.
