Tuapse, Russia (PortSEurope) May 15, 2019 – In the first quarter of 2019, companies of UCL Port, stevedoring division of UCL Holding, handled 9.9 million tonnes of cargo, up 6%, year-on-year. Growth was driven by increased transshipment of oil cargo.
In the reporting period, transshipment of dry cargo grew by 1.4% to 7.7 million tonnes. Transshipment of oil cargo increased by 26% to 2.2 million tonnes with the handling of additional volumes in Tuapse and Taganrog.
Subsidiary Tuapse Sea Commercial Port JSC, located at Krasnodar Krai, on the northeast shore of Russia’s Black Sea coastline, saw cargo increase by 8% to 4.2 million tonnes from 3.9 million tonnes.
Taganrog Sea Commercial Port JSC, situated west of Rostov-on-Don on Russia’s Azov Sea coastline, registered a 3% decrease from 390,000 tonnes to 320,000 tonnes. The port saw a 19% increase in transshipment of ferrous metal.
