Genoa, Italy (Ports Europe) December 7, 2023 – Singapore-based PSA International invested over €100 million in its Italian terminals in 2023, according to Roberto Ferrari, CEO, PSA Italy.

In Italy, the company operates the Genoa-based terminals of Sech and Pra’, and also the Vecon terminal in Venice. In total, PSA Italy handled 2 million containers (TEU) in 2023.

In Genoa, over €45 million has been invested since January 2022 including in new infrastructure (new cranes) and digitalisation. In Genoa, TEU handling in 2023 will be down -3% at around 1.47 million TEU. The smaller Sech terminal forecasts a rise of +6% in 2023, reaching 247,000 TEU.

Vecon, Venice

Ferrari said that in May this year, the company extended the Vecon terminal concession until 2049. The company has already spent €8 million of a planned investment of €78 million. Vecon forecasts a +10% increase in TEU handling to 304,000 units in 2023.
