The Consul of Japan visits the Port of Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain (PortSEurope) March 19, 2021 – The Consul General of Japan in Barcelona, Yasushi Sato, accompanied by the Mayor of Security,Yusuke Matsumoto, has visited the Port of Barcelona today. He was received by the President of the Port of Barcelona, Mercè Conesa; the head of the Office of the President and Institutional Relations, EmiliAlberich; and the Head of External Relations, Manuel Galán. The two
delegations held a working meeting in which, among other aspects, they analysed how the crisis generated by the Covid-19 coronavirus crisis has affected trade between the Port of Barcelona and the Japanese ports and the impact of the Port of Barcelona’s Business Mission to Japan was assessed, which took place in the cities of Tokyo and Yokohama in November of last year. During the meeting, they also discussed the commercial facilities that have brought about the entry into force on 1 February 2019 of the Economic Partnership Agreement between the European Union and Japan.European Union and Japan. In this field, the Japan Business Circle Spain and the Port of Barcelona are organising, on 25 March, an online conference entitled “Japan and Spain, two visions with a common goal”, with the participation of the President of the Port of Barcelona, Mercè Conesa, and the Consul of the Port of Barcelona, Mercè Conesa.Conesa, and the Consul General of Japan in Barcelona, Yasushi Sato, focusing on the boost that this agreement is giving to Spanish exports.agreement is giving to Spanish exports, a large part of which are foodstuffs and which mainly pass through the Catalan port.
