Posted on

Livorno, Italy (Ports Europe) March 8, 2024 – A stash of 130 kilos of marijuana was discovered in a truck arriving at the port of Livorno from Spain. The illegal drugs were seized and the driver of the articulated lorry arrested.

The operation was conducted by soldiers of the Livorno Financial Police and officials of the Customs and Monopolies Agency‘s anti-fraud department. Drug-sniffing dogs Gera and Krios led customs officers to investigate an articulated lorry that had just landed from Spain and was carrying bathroom accessories and rolls of fabric.

Among these goods, 15 cardboard boxes were then discovered with around a hundred heat-sealed bags containing the drugs. The drug, which would have fetched around €800,000 on the retail market, will now be destroyed in an incinerator.
