AdSP Livorno receives award in Ferrara

A recognition for the work carried out in the field of sustainability and the fight against environmental pollution. It was received by the president of the Port System Authority, Luciano Guerrieri, on the occasion of the Remtech Expo 2021, an international event specialized in the protection and sustainable development of the territory, held today in Ferrara – September 22, 2021 The Smart Ports Award 2021 was
awarded for “the great sustainable development project that the ports of the System are carrying out and, in particular, the strategic one of Livorno, where the project for the construction of the Europe Platform stands out”. This is the official motivation taken up by Assoporti. Which has always organized this moment to give visibility to the ports and to offer food for thought on the major issues. “I am happy and proud to have received such an award”, is the warm comment of Guerrieri, “it is a recognition that, of course, goes to all the AdSP collaborators and to those who, preceding me at the helm of Palazzo Rosciano, brought these projects continue over the years”. Guerrieri recalls how the AdSP is at the forefront of the issue of sustainability, an example is the construction project of the Darsena Europa, “which provides for important re-use of dredged material for the nourishment of the beaches of the Tuscan coasts”. Not only that: “With the Port System Environmental Energy Document (DEASP) we have developed targeted interventions to manage electricity in a unitary and integrated way at the level of each port; electrify the docks to allow ships to shut off their engines when moored; favor the reduction of energy consumption; develop a consortium for the purchase of electricity from renewable sources involving terminal operators and port operators”. “We are moving forward in the awareness that social and environmental sustainability is no longer a choice but an imperative dictated by regulations, by the market, by local and large-area communities” concludes Guerrieri.
