Almería Port Expects Ferry Traffic To Rise By 16% In 2017

Almería, Spain (PortSEurope) January 2, 2018 – Almería port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Almería) expects the number of ferry passengers handled in 2017 to rise by 16% to 918,000, while vehicles to increase 25%.

The new services of the ferry ships of Baleària Eurolínias Marítimas S.A. with Melilla and Nador gave a significant boost to the traffic, which exceeded 900,000 passengers for the first time since 2011. More precisely, the total number of passengers will exceed 944,000, up 14.6%. Out of them, the number of cruise passengers declined 9%.

The president of Almería port authority, Mari Carmen Ortiz, has explained that the objective for 2018 is to consolidate and increase the passenger traffic. “Therefore, we will keep working on the attention to passengers and shipping companies, in order to increase the service quality,” she noted.
