
Burgas port to sign cooperation agreement with China’s Shantou

Burgas, Bulgaria (PortSEurope) September 18, 2018 – Burgas port’s president Diyan Dimov has proposed the signing of a cooperation agreement with China’s Shantou port. During a meeting with Dimov, the deputy mayor of Shantou, Luo Yangpeng, has accepted the idea and invited a delegation of Burgas port to China. Shantou is one of the 15 ports in the Silk Road and is part of the “One
Belt, One Road” initiative of the Chinese government, Yangpeng said. The cooperation can fit well into the mechanism for cooperation between the EU and China, Dimov said. Burgas port has cooperation agreements with Greece’s Alexandroupolis and France’s Marseille ports. BMF Port Burgas EAD is a private-owned port operator of terminal Burgas East 2 and terminal Burgas West, part of the national public port of Burgas.
