Civitavecchia, Italy (PortSEurope) September 15, 2020 – Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) and Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mar Tirreno Centro-Settentrionale (AdSP – Centre-North Tyrrhenian Sea Port Authority) have agreed to strengthen their cooperation to promote and accelerate the development of Civitavecchia, Fiumicino and Gaeta ports. CDP will support the AdSP by providing technical-administrative consultancy for the design, execution and development of works both for
by means of public funding and public-private partnership for the infrastructures of various strategic areas in the ports. Should the projects include works included in the Resilience and Recovery Plan for the development of transport infrastructures (national project), CDP will support the AdSP in identifying and managing access to European resources. The projects included in the agreement: Civitavecchia: interventions on the main road network and the construction of the darsena energetica grandi dock in its three components, including that linked to the use of hydrogen for environmental support;Fiumicino development will focus on the new commercial port.Gaeta, interventions will instead concern the completion of the commercial port and the relocation of the shipbuilding industry. Specifically, for Civitavecchia, a fundamental discourse is not only for the development of the port but also for the environment, namely the construction of the darsena energetica grandi dock, and the energy sector, with a particular focus on liquified natural gas (LNG) development and green hydrogen, shipbuilding and multipurpose maritime traffic”, said Francesco Maria di Majo, president of the AdSP. “With the signing of this important agreement with the Port System Authority of the Central Northern Tyrrhenian Sea – the second signed with a port authority within a few months – Cassa Depositi e Prestiti strengthens its role in supporting the infrastructural renewal of the Country. CDP will assist the System Authority in the construction of new strategic works for the ports of Civitavecchia, Fiumicino and Gaeta, with a view to sustainable integration with the other national ports, with the aim of enhancing and redeveloping the areas concerned and creating a sustainable development of the port hub ”, said Tommaso Sabato , Director of CDP Infrastructures and Public Administration.
