A Coruña, Spain (PortSEurope) June 20, 2018 – Punta Langosteira, the outer harbour of A Coruña port, has received a visit from a delegation of the Chinese province of Zheijian, as part of a commercial mission organised by Instituto Gallego de Promoción Económica (IGAPE).
The delegation, accompanied by representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Madrid, Autoridad Portuaria de A Coruña (APC – Coruña Port Authority) and Igape, was interested in a port with high-capacity for exchange of goods, especially bulk, in southern Europe and oriented towards the Atlantic.
Head of the delegation of the provincial Department of Commerce of Zhejiang in Europe, Dai Weilong, highlighted possible collaboration and the opportunity represented by the Outer Port as a channel for exports of companies in the province.
With more than 54 million inhabitants, the local economy of Zhejiang province is based on rice farming (cotton and tea) and fishing. It is one of the main producers of silk in China.
