Venice, Italy (PortSEurope) November 8, 2018 – Cosco Shipping has started operating a new feeder service linking Italy’s Venice port to Piraeus in Greece.
The service, with a two-and-a-half-day transit time between Piraeus and Venice and vice-versa, involves the use of 1,400 TEUs.
The new line will guarantee a significant increase in container traffic, a segment that will mark a historic record for Venice in 2018, the president of Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Settentrionale (AdSP – Northern Adriatic Sea Port Authority), Pino Musolino, said.
“Cosco Shipping has a great tradition and experience in shuttle connections: for years we have been serving the port of Naples very well with a similar service Piraeus-Naples-Piraeus,” the general manager of Cosco Shipping Lines Italy, Marco Donati, added.
Cosco is the operator of both Piraeus Port Authority SA and Piraeus Container Terminal SA.
