Algiers, Algeria (PortSEurope) February 12, 2018 – The Minister of Public Works and Transport, Abdelghani Zaalane, has opened the 5th edition of the international exhibition of transport, logistics and mobility “Algeria infrastructure 2018”.
According to Zaalane, these projects include the modernization and enlargement of commercial ports, the connection of ports to methods of transport, the connection of industrial zones and to many production companies to rail networks, the realization of freight centres at airports and the opening of air and sea transport to goods for national operators.
This economic event, which is held from 12 to 14 February at the Palais es expos (Pins maritimes), brings together a hundred national and foreign exhibitors from the Netherlands (guest of honor), South Africa, China, France and Switzerland.
National companies in the transport sector and transport infrastructure were also present at the show, such as the Algiers Metro Company (EMA), the National Railway Transport Company (SNTF), Algiers, the public urban and suburban transport establishment (ETUSA) and the respective port companies of Ghazaouet, Mostaganem, Oran, and Tenes.
Algeria’s coastline has 51 marine infrastructure: 11 commercial ports, 2 oil ports, 41 fishing ports and a marina, 19 port infrastructures (commercial and fishing ports) and four hub airports (airfields and airstrips) were built between 2000 and 2012, in compliance with the five-year plans (2001-2005 and 2005-2009), in addition to the current 2010-2014 plan.
The government has unlocked a €160 million ($197.19 million) package to equip the various national ports with a new management system for maritime and port security and exchange of information.
One billion dinars (€9.6 million/$11.83 million) have been allocated the port of Oran management company in order to renovate this strategic infrastructure
