Genoa, Italy (PortSEurope) December 22, 2017 – Genoa port handled 46.1 million tonnes of cargo in the first ten months of 2017, up 9.1% on the year.
General cargo traffic rose 13% to 29.7 million tonnes, and 21.6 million tonnes of them consisted of containerised cargo, up 15.9%. Container traffic rose 14.4% to 2.187 million TEUs.
Solid bulk cargo traffic declined by 2% to 521,000 tonnes, while liquid bulk fell 2.1% to 596,000 tonnes.
In the first ten months of 2017, the number of passengers handled at the port declined by 3.1% to 2.7 million. Cruise passengers declined 8.6% to 802,000.
