Italy’s Fincantieri launches Seven Seas Splendor ship

Ancona, Italy (PortSEurope) February 12, 2019 – Italian shipping group Fincantieri SpA has launched the Seven Seas Splendor ship at its Ancona port shipyard, the second extra luxury cruise ship that the company is building for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, part of the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings group (NCLH). Delivery is scheduled for 2020.

Like the sister ship Seven Seas Explorer, delivered by Fincantieri at the Sestri Ponente (Genoa) plant in 2016, Seven Seas Splendor will have 55,000 gross tonnes and will accommodate 750 passengers. In January, Fincantieri received the order from NCLH for a third unit of the series, with delivery scheduled for 2023.

The company also launched the Scarlet Lady vessel, the first of four cruise ships commissioned to Fincantieri by Virgin Voyages, brand of the Virgin group. Scarlet Lady will have about 110,000 gross tonnes, will be 278 metres long and 38 metres wide.
