
Lidl finalizes the rental of the old Decathlon logistics hub in the ZAL, Barcelona port

Barcelona, Spain (PortSEurope) December 8, 2021 – The German international discount retailer chain Lidl is finalizing the rental of a logistics warehouse in the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) of the Port of Barcelona, previously occupied by Decathlon, which has moved to a new platform in the same area of 96,000 m². The retailer will rent a 50,000 m² warehouse to be used for the storage of non-food products. Significant
investment is not required. With this operation, Lidl becomes one of the companies with the largest logistics presence in Catalonia, with almost 250,000 m². The company has 97,000 m² in the ZAL for its logistics activities in southern Europe. In addition, it has another logistics center in Martorell (Baix Llobregat), measuring 65,000 m² and with the possibility of growing, and another 27,000 m² platform in Sant Esteve Sesrovires (Baix Llobregat). In Spain, its headquarters are in Montcada i Reixac (Vallès Occidental). The ZAL, managed by Cilsa (a company 51.5% owned by the Barcelona Port Authority and 48.5% by Merlin), is located in a unique enclave next to the Port of Barcelona and very close to the Barcelona Airport.
