Genoa, Italy (PortSEurope) September 15, 2017 – Lombardy freight forwarders and road transport operators Alsea (Associazione Lombarda Spedizionieri e Autotrasportatori) has accused Genoa port of charging a double fee for the handling of containers with it IT system.
The port has migrated its container management system to the national logistics platform Piattaforma Logistica Nazionale from the E-port platform but has not eliminated the cost for the use of the former.
In this way, the €1.23 ($1.46) cost for the usage of E-port was not eliminated but added to the one of the national logistics platform, Alsea said.
The double charging increases the costs of operators, the association warned.
