The Malaga-Melilla regular line continues its growth in the port area during the beginning of this year. In January, the Port of Malaga recorded a movement of 28,285 passengers, which represents an increase of 31.2% compared to the beginning of 2017.

On the other hand, passenger vehicle traffic experienced growth in January, doubling the number of units (4,184) compared to January 2018, which reveals an increase of 73% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The figures continue, therefore, with the upward trend of this type of traffic, which was already reflected in the result of last year, with a movement of 364,445 passengers and 53,400 vehicles in 2018, increasing by 21.8% and 40.8% in relation to 2017.

The impact of the connection with North Africa has been one of the main strategic axes in recent years, positioning the Port of Malaga as a point of access in southern Europe.

The Malaga-Melilla line has been operated by shipping companies Trasmediterránea and Compañía Marítima Alborán, which make daily connections.
