Valletta, Malta (PortSEurope) April 18, 2019 – Malta’s Valletta Cruise Port is preparing for a record number of 800,000 cruise passengers this year, up from 711,000 in 2018.
According to the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA), the total number of cruise passengers worldwide grew by 7% to 28.5 million last year. More than 17% of cruise ships operate in the Mediterranean.
As has now become clear at the Seatrade Cruise Global cruise show in Miami, the demand for cruises in the American market is particularly strong. Luxury cruises are also becoming popular, as more guests are looking for exclusive experiences at sea. In addition, the cruise industry is attracting younger passengers.
