Damietta, Egypt (PortSEurope) June 12, 2019 – As part of the government’s plans to develop ports in Egypt, Damietta Port Authority (DPA) Chairman Cpt. Tarek Shahin has signed a contract with Major General Hosam El-Din kotb, representative of the Marine Industries and Services Organization (MIASO), affiliated to the Egyptian Defense Ministry to construct and supply four new tractor tugboats for Damietta port.
The vessels should be delivered in two years, supporting other improvements at the port, including the new multi-purpose terminal. These developments will help the port handle increasing cargo levels and further forecast increases.
Damietta Port is situated 8.5 km west of the Nile river of Damietta branch westward Ras El-Bar, and it is 70 km away from Port Said.
