Nogaro, Italy (PortSEurope) November 23, 2018 – The cargo traffic between the port of Mariupol and the Italian Porto Nogaro will double by the end of 2019 to 500,000 tonnes, the head of Mariupol port, Igor Barsky, said.
According to the AMPU, between November 2017 and 2018, the cargo traffic between the ports of Mariupol and Nogaro was 214,000 tons.
“Now the port of Mariupol mainly exports metal products to Nogaro. However, we are committed to expanding the range of cargo and are ready to handle import cargo traffic when Italian shippers include the Mariupol port in their cargo supply chain,” Barsky said.
The ports signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand the list of cargoes that are transported between the two harbours. The parties will also exchange technologies for transshipment of goods, discuss how to improve energy efficiency and implement integrated environmental monitoring in the Mariupol port.
Nogaro inland port is located in northeastern Italy, west of Monfalcone.
