Naples, Italy (PortSEurope) December 29, 2017 – This calendar year, the ports of Naples, Salerno and Castellammare di Stabia have already exceeded the total container traffic handled in 2016, the president of the Authority of the Central Tyrrhenian Sea Port System (Autorità si Sistema del Mar Tirreno Centrale), Pietro Spirito, said.
The total container traffic of the three ports rose by 11.9% on the year in January-November 2017, Spirito, the chairman of the institution that has been managing the three ports since the beginning of this year, said.
The traffic of motorways of the sea, in particular, the one to Salerno, also increases significantly, up 22.4% in the period under review, while solid and liquid bulk throughput also expands. The traffic of passengers rose by 24.6% in Salerno and 3% in Naples in January-November.
