Navimeteo and Trieste Marine Terminal to produce innovative marine weather forecast

Trieste, Italy (PortSEurope) December 2, 2021 – Navimeteo, a marine weather services, and Trieste Marine Terminal (TMT) are working together to launch an innovative weather monitoring system for port operations. The driver is changing weather in the Mediterranean which is becoming more intense, localized and unpredictable. The new weather service is based on detailed and validated short and medium-term forecasts with real-time monitoring of storm
cells and short-term storm cell directional track predictions called Nowcasting. Navimeteo can forecast critical issues arising from intense winds and waves, whilst also monitoring the conditions in real-time nowcasting storm cell development and progression providing warnings for the arrival of micro-scale storm cells up to one hour before arrival. A key component of the service is based on the operational dialogue between Navimeteo forecasters and the terminal operating staff, improved by the delivery of meteorological workshops. Trieste Marine Terminal srl (TMT) is the concessionaire of the container terminal in the port of Trieste, and part of the T.O. Delta SpA group. Copyright (C) PortSEurope. All Rights Reserved. 2021.
