Gijón, Spain (PortSEurope) November 7, 2017 – The president of Spanish national ports agency Puertos del Estado, José Llorca, and the commercial and business development director of Balearia, José Vicente Herrero, will participate on November 10 in the V Multimodal Day organised by the employers of Asturian road transport association Asetra. After the day, which will be held at the Luis Adaro fairgrounds, a meeting is
planned at El Musel de Llorca with officials from the port authority and the City Council of Gijón and also with the possible participation of Baleària Eurolínias Marítimas’ top officials to discuss the project for the relaunch of the Motorway of the Sea between the port of Gijón and the French port of Montoir de Bretagne (Nantes-Saint Nazaire). Baleària is analysing the feasibility of resuming the line, suspended in September 2014 by LD Lines. The project has the support of local, regional and state administrations. Initially, it was foreseen that the Baleària meeting with the three administrations would have taken place in September. The last meeting on the motorway of the sea in which Llorca participated took place on July 26, with the administrations committed to providing economic resources for the reactivation of the line, which should reach profitability within three or four years after its resumption.
