
Traffic in Vilagarcía port in October registers an increase

Vilagarcia, Spain (PortSEurope) December 1, 2020 – Autoridad Portuaria de Vilagarcía (APV – Port Authority of Vilagarcía) has reported that total cargo traffic for the month of October was 18% higher than the same month of 2019 at 114,233 tons (96,405). The January-October 2020 figure was 977,750 tons compared to the 1,085,978 tons moved in the same period of last year. With the good figures
for October, the annual difference stands at -9.97%, improving the figures from previous months. The increase in the liquid bulk section stands out, with a rise of 22.4%, exceeding 180,000 tons. In solid bulks there was a decrease of 31.75%, equivalent to 124,174 tons. Of this quantity, almost 100,000 tons corresponds to the decrease in cereal traffic. The total tons moved in this category at the end of October amounted to 266,880 tons. In general merchandise category, increases of 9% and 5% were registered in the traffic of board and aluminum. The total of tons moved in the first 10 months of the year in the section of general merchandise is 530,644, which represents a decrease of 3.12%. There was also a 7.7% decrease in the net amount of turnover, in line with the drop in port traffic. Even considering this decrease, the Port Authority’s forecasts are to end the year with a positive economic result. The members of the Board also approved the Business Plan 2021.
