Odessa, Ukraine (PortSEurope) November 11, 2017 – During the first 10 months of 2017, 109 million tons of cargo were processed by Ukrainian ports, which is 0.6% more than the same period of 2016.
The volume of transshipment of imported goods increased by 20.7% in comparison with the previous year to 16.1 million tons, exports by 0.6% to 82 million tons. Of imports, the largest increase, as before, is shown by coal, the volume of transshipment of which amounted to 4.5 million tons, which is up 48.1%.
In the transshipment of export cargoes a significant share is taken by grain, 31.8 million tons, and the production of metallurgy, 28.1 million tons. Exports of vegetable oils grew by 28.5% to 4.5 million tons.
The volume of processing of transit goods increased by 7.7% to 9.7 million tons, and container handling by 1.7% to 495,000 TEU.
At the same time, the largest amount of cargo was processed by Yuzhnyi port was 34.9 million tons (+5.9%), Odessa -19.9 million tons (-3.4%), Nikolaev 19.2 million tons (+5.5%) and Chornomorsk 14.1 million tons (+9.4%).
