Valencia, Spain (PortSEurope) November 16, 2019 – The president of Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia (APV – Valenciaport, Port Authority of Valencia), Aurelio Martínez, has met with the new head of Cosco Shipping Ports, Zhang Dayu, the CEO of Cosco Shipping Ports Spain, Sun Kai, and reported that Cosco Shipping Ports intends to strengthen its collaboration commitments with the Spanish port.
After the meeting in Shanghai, Martínez said that the Cosco executives planned to visit Valencia in December.
Cosco plans to close the year with a movement of around 110,000 TEU, double the traffic of two years ago, when the Cosco started managing local facilities. CSP Iberian Zaragoza Terminal currently has a capacity of 165,000 TEU. The port is part of Cosco’s role in China’s new Silk Road, linking with other Spanish and China.
In June 2017, China’s Cosco Shipping Ports acquired Noatum Ports SLU and the latter was rebranded Cosco Shipping Ports (Spain) Terminals S.L.U. (CSP Spain), and includes maritime terminals located in Valencia (Noatum Container Terminal Valencia) and Bilbao (Noatum Container Terminal Bilbao), now renamed CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal and CSP Iberian Bilbao Terminal, respectively. since then, performance has improved substantially.
