Valencia, Spain (PortSEurope) September 8, 2020 – The Valenciaport Foundation signed a technical collaboration with the company “Portos de Paran”, to modernize the Brazilian ports of Paranaguá and Antonina, through the simultaneous development of four technical programmes in the areas of technology, innovation and training. The proposals are new to Brazil and include benchmark digitization strategies of the most important and efficient ports in the
world. The CEO of Portos do Paraná, Luis Fernando García, stated that having the Valenciaport Foundation by their side, helping in these strategic projects, will transform the ports. He added that Paraná wants to absorb this knowledge in order to stay at the forefront among Brazilian ports.  Among the projects, the future design of the port community system (PCS) of Portos do Paraná stands out, which will connect the multiple systems used by different organizations involved in the logistics-port activity, integrating information from the entire logistics chain, marking a before and an after in the way of operating the port and its port community. The innovative proposal to implement the Port Collaborative Decision Making (PortCDM) system in the ports managed by Porto do Paraná, is also keyt. With this technical assistance, a new digital model will be developed to manage maritime operations, in real time, among all the agents involved in the arrival and departure of ships.  The Director of the Valenciaport Foundation Project, Jonas Mendes Constante, said that Paranaguá port was chosen as a pilot and will be the first in Latin America to develop a platform of this type, together with the port of Valencia, it will be among the first in the world to apply this concept. He added that PortCDM is an incredible innovation and Paraná will be a reference for ports in all countries. According to the Director of International Development of the Valenciaport Foundation, Miguel Garín Alemany, the intention is to accompany and help Portos do Paraná in the execution of its digital transformation. The association between both entities originated in a series of conversations about what Portos do Paraná planned for the future and what the Foundation envisioned for Latin America. This meeting of ideas allowed them to discuss an unprecedented joint work in a Latin American port. The projects will be bilingual and will provide training for employees of the public company Portos do Paraná in the construction of a “smart port”, using automation and innovative technologies to improve performance.  Ana Rumbeu Daviu, Director of Training at the Valenciaport Foundation, explained that the more competitive the human resources, the more competitive the ports will be. They are going to develop a training program in strategic, talent, commercial, energy efficient and environmental port management. With the development of these initiatives, it is expected that the Ports of Paraná will gain prominence on the European scene, attracting new investments and increasing movements.
