Civitavecchia, Italy (PortSEurope) May 24, 2018 – The Roma Cruise Terminal (RCT), designed to handle the largest cruise ships, has been inaugurated in the port of Civitavecchia.
“Since 2007, when RCT started its activity, around 23 million cruise passengers have passed through the port of Civitavecchia”,’commented general manager RCT John Portelli. In 2018, the port is scheduled to handle over 700 cruise ship calls and 2.4 million passengers.
RCT is jointly owned by Costa Cruises, MSC and Royal Caribbean Cruises, who jointly invested €20 million ($23.41 million).
The designer was Genoa-based Studio Vicini Architetti.
The local cruise businesses generates around €91 million ($106.53 million) annually for the local economy and provides around 1,700 jobs.
