Barcelona, Spain (PortSEurope) December 20, 2019 – Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB -Barcelona Free Zone) has approved a draft budget for 2020 with a forecast of €8.2 million ($9.12 million) in profits and with an investment budget of €20.4 million ($22.69 million).
The public entity which is currently chaired by Pere Navarro, special state delegate, forecasts that net amount turnover will increase by 5% next year, reaching €51 million ($56.72 million) and committing investments.
In 2020, it is planned to invest in the maintenance and modernization of CZFB assets and also in new projects, including the DFactory project, in which the CZFB is already investing and will need to allocate €17 million ($18.91 million) to realize its first phase.
The executive director of the CZFB also detailed the entity’s strategic plan for the coming years, which is based on three pillars: the long-term economic sustainability of the CZFB, the economic development and social consequence of the territory, and its integration and environmental sustainability. The CZFB has defined a total of 29 preliminary projects to address the nine concrete strategic lines within the three pillars that make up its strategic plan.
Continuing with the transformation process carried out in 2019, CZFB has also stated its intention to undertake in the polygon this 2020, various actions of sustainability and mobility to move towards an environment that brings the industrial area closer to the fulfillment of the objectives of the Sustainable Development (SDG) that the United Nations has set on the horizon of 2030.
The Free Trade Zone Consortium of Barcelona (CZFB), the first consortium established in Spain (1916), is a public entity, operating mainly in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
The main activity is to manage the Industrial Zone of the Zona Franca and the Zona Franca Customs , as well as manage its assets and promote the international projection of Barcelona, Catalonia and Spain in the fair, logistics and real estate sectors. For this reason, it has more than 12,000,000 m² of industrial and urban land, in different stages of realization.
