Augusta, Italy (PortSEurope) December 7, 2018 – Sicily’s Regional Administrative Court has ordered the headquarters of Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mare di Sicilia Orientale (AdSP – Eastern Sicilian Sea Port Authority) to remain in Augusta, putting an end to a long row between the central Italian government and the Sicilian authorities.
The third section of the court has explained that the Italian transport ministry notified it on October 31, 2018, of its wish to maintain the headquarters of the port authority in Augusta.
Marina Noè, president of port association Assoporto Augusta, who openly opposed the decision of former transport minister Graziano Delrio to transfer the seat of the port authority to Catania, said: “We thank the city of Augusta who knew how fight this battle, […] to the parliamentarians who accepted the application of Assoporto Augusta to bring the matter to the attention of the new Minister of Infrastructure Danilo Toninelli who, unlike his predecessor, decided to restore legality”.
