Edison will come to Brindisi to present project for construction of a coastal LNG deposit

Brindisi, Italy (PortSEurope) September 16, 2020 – The chairman of Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Meridionale (AdSP – Southern Adriatic Sea Port Authority), Patroni Griffi, has asked for a scientific study to evaluate the proposed project from Edison S.p.A, an Italian electric utility company, to build a gas distributor for ships and trucks at the port. Edison will present the project on October 8 in Brindisi.
All ships due to be launched in 2020 and 2021 will be fuelled with liquified natural gas (LNG). A network of ports providing LNG as ship fuel is being established and this is a great opportunity for Brindisi. The association which represents Mediterranean cruise ship ports, Medcruise, is inspecting LNG ports and included Taranto in the list, and not Brindisi, Patroni Griffi said.
