HuelvaPort members approve accounts and forecast

Huelva, Spain (PortSEurope) June 22, 2018 – Huelvaport, the association for the commercial promotion of the port of Huelva, has reported a positive balance in its second year, after participating in 27 commercial actions together with Autoridad Portuaria de Huelva (APH – Port Authority of Huelva) between the months of July 2017 and June 2018, which has focused on the commercial promotion of the port in order to attract new traffic, as well as investments that contribute to generating more activity in the port and higher employment.

Huelvaport brings together 58 partners, including companies and business organisations. At its general assembly, partners approved the accounts and forecasts for 2019.

The president of the port authority, José Luis Ramos, said that HuelvaPort is a young organization of companies that combines efforts and synergies to improve the positioning of the port worldwide, an example of collaboration and exploitation of synergies, something that generates added value and that makes us strong in front of its competitors. In this sense, Ramos wanted to emphasise that one of the main competitive advantages is the strength of the port community.

On the other hand, the president of HuelvaPort, Ignacio Pujol, has highlighted the importance of promoting the association around the port community, since the fact of having a strong association “will improve competitiveness at the Port of Huelva and in the growth of the companies themselves, which may benefit from the arrival of new investment, which will generate an increase in the demand for their services.

For this reason, it has encouraged companies located in the service area of the port to join HuelvaPort.

Also, the director of the port of Huelva, Ignacio Álvarez-Ossorio, has made a very positive assessment of the first two years of HuelvaPort, since “it has strengthened the Port of Huelva, after intensifying the commercial actions and promotion, in addition to offer a cohesive image of the companies of the port community”.

HuelvaPort was created on July 8, 2016, promoted by the port authority along with 46 companies and business organisations, in order to cooperate among all operators that form part of the port of Huelva to offer a comprehensive range of services.

The Technical Office of HuelvaPort, led by the commercial director of the port authority of Huelva, Manuel Vega, has been in charge of coordinating the organization of events and commercial actions of HuelvaPort together with the port of Huelva.

Among the events held at the end of 2017, the presentation of the port in Aragón Logistics Platform in Zaragoza in September stands out, with the aim of presenting the logistics offer of the port and its companies, as well as considering the possibility of improving the communications with this important logistics node in southern Europe and expand its hinterland.

In the month of November 2017, the port organized, with the active participation of HuelvaPort, an Oil & Gas Seminar with the objective of analysing the current situation of petroleum bulk, oils and liquefied natural gas in Huelva, as well as its evolution and future trends, among other topics of interest, in addition to highlighting its leadership in Spain as one of the main bulk ports of the Spanish port system.
