La Spezia Container Terminal added to MSC’s new INDUSA Express Service

Contship’s La Spezia Container Terminal added to MSC’s new INDUSA Express Service, supporting Italian export to the Indian sub-Continent – November 25, 2020 This week La Spezia Container Terminal welcomed the Hyundai Mercury, making her maiden call on the INDUSA Express service. With a capacity of 8,562 TEUs including 700 refrigerated containers, she is one of ten ships operated by MSC, connecting Italy directly with the Indian sub-Continent. The new INDUSA
service, the second service linking the USA with the Indian sub-Continent, covers India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. From New York, Norfolk and Savannah the ships call La Spezia, the first port in the Mediterranean, before proceeding to transit the Suez Canal on to King Abdullah port, Mundra, Nhava Sheva and Colombo, the latter covering the Bay of Bengal ports in Bangladesh and India, via transshipment. “Once again, La Spezia Container Terminal demonstrates its capability to provide integrated transport solutions, supporting the global supply chain through its extensive rail service network. Our year-to-date rail volumes moving in/out of Contship Italia’s premier gateway terminal reached 33% well above the average and maintaining its number one ranking in Italy. We are very pleased to see this new arrival connecting India with LSCT” said Alfredo Scalisi, Managing Director of LSCT. Source: Contship
