SAIC Motor to distribute vehicles through the port of Tarragona

Tarragona, Spain (PortSEurope) June 9, 2021 – Maxus, an Asian brand of the SAIC Motor group, with distributor Automax Spain and BERGÉ GEFCO will distribute its new range of commercial vehicles in Spain via Tarragona port from June. Thus, BERGÉ GEFCO logistics center in Tarragona will operate as the sea gateway for Maxus vehicles from East Asia for distribution in Spain and Portugal. In May the Crystal Ray vessel
(consigned and operated by BERGÉ) arrived at the Port of Tarragona, which unloaded a total of 2,189 vehicles, including the first units of the Maxus eDELIVER 3 and eDELIVER 9 models, 100% electric, with ZERO label, and Maxus DELIVER 9, with diesel engine. The BERGÉ GEFCO multimodal logistics center located in the Port of Tarragona has an extensive infrastructure equipped with a 1 million m² field, a storage capacity for 40,000 units, 7,000 m² of workshops and other value-added services. It has electric charging stations for low CO2 emissions logistics with the latest technology in terms of sustainability, 17,000 parking spaces with anti-hail cover and a state-of-the-art car wash. The award of this contract reinforces BERGÉ GEFCO’s strategic leadership in transport, storage and innovative logistics management of finished vehicles in the Iberian Peninsula, responding to the most demanding logistics requirements of international automotive companies.
