Tarragona, Spain (PortSEurope) June 21, 2018 – After the signing of the acquisition of a plot of 150,000 square metres on June 12, the president of the port of Tarragona, Josep Andreu, and the chairman of Hercesa Inmobiliaria, Juan José Cercadillo, held a visit to what will be the future Puerto Centro Intermodal Terminal, located between the municipalities of Guadalajara and Marchamalo.
Andreu, foreseeably in one of his last public events, thanked his team and the construction company for their tenacity and perseverance to materialise a project that began in 2011 and that will allow the generation of new maritime traffic, increase of intermodal traffic and settling of an infrastructure in the Henares corridor that promotes the import/export of the Central zone with a connectivity with the North and East of the Peninsula.
With a total investment of 20 million euros, of which 3.5 correspond to the acquisition of the land, the Tarragona port calculates to tender the works of the first phase in one year. The 15 hectares will have more than 4 km of track in Iberian gauge, possibility managing trains of up to 750 meters, parking space and storage area for 700 containers.
