Tarragona, Spain (PortSEurope) July 5, 2021 – Prime Steel, a company dedicated to the commercialization and distribution of metallurgical products operating at the port, has invested in new high precision machinery. New laser equipment will create complex parts with great precision and repetition, improving productivity. The company, part of Bemaco Steel of the UK, imports raw materials and exports finished products. Prime Steel operates in
two covered warehouses with a total space of 8,000 m² and on the Aragó dock. This availability of space allows keeping a stock of different products inside the warehouses, under cover. This factor allows to protect materials such as steel, aluminum, copper and brass, always in conditions to preserve their qualities, and at the same time complying with the CE standard The diversification strategy of the Port of Tarragona shows good results in traffic in iron and steel. In the first five months of the year, this traffic increased by 85.3% compared to 2020, in part thanks to steelmakers with 333,981 tons moved. During the month of May, iron and steel workers experienced one of the most notable increases compared to 2020 with a growth of 185%.
