Baltics – July 30, 2020 The minister said, “The bill on multimodal transportation, developed by the Ministry of Infrastructure, remains for us one of the priorities for further development of the transport sector. It will not only help protect the environment through the reorientation of a significant part of road transport to the river and other environmentally friendly types of delivery but will also greatly simplify all procedures. Regardless of the change in modes of transport and complex logistics, it will be possible to carry out cargo transportation with only one transportation document – a multimodal transportation document. This will optimize time and costs, increase traffic within the country and improve service. We enlist the support of our German colleagues and relevant specialists in the maritime and railway industry to share experiences and continue to develop this area.” The memorandum provides for cooperation to improve the quality of intermodal rail services in several areas: simplification of administrative procedures to speed up trains, and a number of measures to improve the efficiency of intermodal trains, harmonization of tariffs according to international best practice and improved distribution of operational and operational costs.
