Canary Islands government approves expansion of Agaete port

Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain (PortSEurope) June 12, 2018 – The vice president of the Canary Islands government and Public Works and Transport Councillor, Pablo Rodríguez, has signed a resolution awarding the works for the expansion of the Agaete port, revoking a resolution of June 10, 2016, which withdrew the procedure.

In this way, a green light is given to the project presented by the consortium of Sato Trabajos y Obras, and Hermanos García Álamo (Hermanos Tito) S.L, the Canarian government said.

Rodríguez defended the execution of the project as a “fundamental work” for the development of the north of the island of Gran Canaria, as well as a response to the “constantly increasing traffic that the infrastructure has experienced throughout the year.”

It has been possible to “unblock a project that had been administratively paralysed since June 2016,” he added.
