Valencia, Spain (PortSEurope) January 4, 2018 – Valencia port authority (Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia) has called a tender for the dredging of the access to Levante dock and the southern basin.
The port aims to invest €5.116 million ($6.174 million) in the project and is expected to be carried out in a period of six months. The dredging project will be used for guaranteeing the safety of manoeuvres of large ships.
Valencia port authority has been working on adapting the port’s facilities for the handling of larger ships since last year. It expects that in the summer of 2018, the three container terminals of the port will have a draft of between 17 and 18 metres and a waterline of 1,900 linear metres.
The sludge dredged from the seabed will be used for the construction of the northern container terminal at the harbour.
